My Favorite Things Of 2010
Jan. 11th, 2011 | 03:41 am
Toy Story 3: Pixar has solidified themselves as masters of computer animated cinema.
Mass Effect 2: BioWare managed to fix every gripe I had with the first one and then some. Everything from the story to the characters to the visuals to the gameplay make this is greatest RPG (and one of the best video games in general) I've ever played.
Top Gear: Thanks to my buddy Paul, I finally got around to checking out this BBC hit. I like to think of it as Automobiles + Mythbusters + The Three Stooges. A match made in heaven.
Kinect: While the launch games could be better, this peripheral feels like the future. Hello Minority Report-styled interfaces.
The Minions from Despicable Me: Normally, cartoon characters like this would annoy the pants off of me, but these little guys stole the show in an already great flick.
The Walking Dead on AMC: Not quite a perfect series, but really great nonetheless. My biggest complaint: waiting until October for season 2. What a tease.
Tron: Legacy: The superior sequel to the 80's sci-fi cult classic. Conjoin it with Daft Punk and 3D done right and you have a recipe for awesome sauce.
NSFW podcast: Me being a big fan of Brian Brushwood's previous work make his first endeavor on the twit network a no-brainer inclusion to this list.
FoodMob podcast: This is what got me to actually cook for the first time. A damn shame the show only lasted for a few months.
Angry Birds: The smartphone gaming sensation sure-as-hell had me hooked.
Conan on TBS: NBC can suck it.
The Pee-wee Herman Show: A childhood favorite finally making a triumphant return.
The Gregory Brothers Remixes (Double Rainbow/Bed Intruder): Remixes of popular Youtube videos are generally hit-or-miss. These guys, however, have perfected it.
Chatroulette: From dicks to Merton, Chatroulette provided hours of (mostly disturbing) entertainment.
Jon Stewart's "Go Fuck Yourself" Choir: Whether it's idiots on Fox News or douche bag anti-American Muslims, Jon Stewart knows how to dish out the ultimate diss.
Scott Pilgrim: The comics, the movie, the video game. No matter which one you pick, they all rock.
Jim Breuer/Penn & Teller: Meeting some of my long-time idols got me as excited as little kid (or as my girlfriend claimed, brought out the Italian in me with my crazy hand gestures). And actually having a conversation with the silent one known as Teller was simply surreal.
